Today Doug Fischer became Dr. Doug Fischer as he successfully defended his PhD thesis in the graduate Program in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine!
His thesis is titled "Examination of the Role of HIV-1 Capsid Sequence on Virus Infectivity, Host Protein Interactions, and Capsid Uncoating" and has led thus far to one first-author publication, two co-author publications, and another co-author manuscript in revision. He did a great job during his defense and earned his "virus cake." Doug will be staying in the laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow to continue his research. We look forward to more cool work from him to come!
